Audio is wrong
editThe audio pronunciation of Ernakulam is wrong. ള should be pronounced as a Retroflex lateral approximant. --Grammatical error 15:09, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ya, you are right. I'm removing it. I'll upload another one later. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK 02:52, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
Can be merged with Kochi and Ernakulam_District
editErnakulam city is the same as Kochi city. Ernakulam city is now just a colloquial usage. The corporation is also known by the name Cochin City Corporation. We can merge some information from here to Kochi city article, and redirect this page to Ernakulam district page.
Anticipating your replies., -- Rajith Mohan :) (Talk to me...) 10:43, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Though people in Kerala use Ernakulam to refer to Kochi city, Ernakulam is not another name for Kochi. As the starting sentence says: Ernakulam refers to the eastern part of the mainland of Kochi city in Kerala, India. Apart from Ernakulam, Kochi (corporataion limits) include places like Mattancherry, Willington and other islands.-- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK12:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks for the clarification, Deepu.

Regional language newspapers
editIn the Media/Print section, it says, "Newspapers in other regional languages like Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu are also sold in large numbers."
In all my ~20 years in this city, I have not seen a single place selling Kannada, telugu or Hindi newspapers. I am not sure if this line is correct at all. Shouldn't it be removed? --Bilbo elffriend | Talk 02:16, 3 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilbo elffriend (talk • contribs)
Where has the A gone?
editThis might by a very stupid question, but does എറണാകുളം not read Eṟaṇākulaṁ rather than Eṟṇākulaṁ, as stated in the article? I cannot see any tool that removes the inherent consonant from the റ ṟa letter. 59.99.213.65 (talk) 13:17, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Ernakulam's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 19:07, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Merger Proposal
editI propose Vadakode be merged with Ernakulam. It seems the former does not contain any information of importance to warrant its own article. Tagging this article and Vadacode for merger. Yelyzaveta (talk) 00:00, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- With a single line stating that Vadakode is a locality in Kochi, and without any significant information associated with that place, there is nothing to be merged. rams81 (talk) 17:11, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Think Ernakulam is Kochi.--Al Sheik!Woiu! (talk) 05:11, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
The present ernakulam derived from the word Eranatu kulam. this kulam was situated near valanjambalam. and as you mentionedEernakulam is never mentioned as kochi. before ernakulam was emerged as a trading center Kochhi was the trading capital during the time of Shaktan thampuran. near by villagers even people come to Mattahcherry for purchase of pudava. because the kokanies who came from kokan area of karnataka due the fear of Tipu Sultan, settled down in Kochi and the Maharaja of kochi gave them place to live in Cherlai a small place in the heart of kochi. TDtemple. and they started T.D. High school. During the time of Shaktan thampuran , these traders become erratic and the King has to take action againest against one of the business man his sir name was Kini. the king said "kiniyude thala kani" refer to the history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.222.2.80 (talk) 10:40, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

shouldn't the right pronunciation be included in Wikipedia, rather than saying that you will upload it later.. Can i delete it ?? (45.248.92.96 (talk) 12:59, 25 January 2018 (UTC))
if no one objects, more photos can be added. (45.248.92.96 (talk) 04:10, 29 January 2018 (UTC))
