Village Hall
editThe Ashby article indicates that the current wooden village hall was built by the Lord of the Manor during the depression of the 1930s. However, the history of RAF Digby records that in 1946 the former parachute packing shed at the station was dismantled and reassembled at Ashby de la Launde as the replacement village hall, as thanks for the use of Ashby Hall as an officers' mess during World War II.
Having driven past it a few weeks ago it does actually look like an ex-RAF structure. Is there any local resident that can actually confirm that the current village hall dates from the 1930s and was originally a squash court? 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 13:04, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
