    Dark mode

    edit

It seems the current events page does not follow the dark mode setting as the main page...can it be set to inherit the property? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.132.76.2 (talk) 13:58, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Never mind, fixed it myself, thought the page had higher protection than it did. Largely Legible Layman (talk) 23:44, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Hurricane Milton landfall

    edit

Modify Milton's blurb to say that it made landfall in Florida instead of just approaching the state. ✶Quxyz 02:05, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Vandalism needs reverting

    edit

I don't know how this has happened, considering the page is fully-protected, but someone has managed to vandalize it:

The text outside the "October 22, 2024" box needs to be removed because it's clear and obvious vandalism. F1Krazy (talk) 10:51, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Haha, never mind, someone already managed to revert it in the time it took me to type this. Can someone delete this since it's no longer needed? F1Krazy (talk) 10:53, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

    News outlets selection

    edit

Hi, how do we choose the "right" news outlet? On the news of 21 November 2024, I see an entry about a Chinese cargo ship stopped by Danish navy in relation to baltic submarine cable sabotage [1]. At first glance, it is pretty interesting, but then I noticed the source, EurAsia Daily, a Russian news outlet. Although claming to be "unbiased", there is an obvious conflict of interest, and I wouldn't use it as the source of this kind of news. Hence the question/s: - Should we keep the news on waiting to add another source as soon as it available? - Should we pull the news waiting to add another source as soon as it available? - Should we totally disregard the news because it is too specific and we cannot establish its authenticity?

Maybe there are some guidelines, although I could not find them. Please advice on how to proceed. If this section is unnecessary, please delete it.

    Broken archives

    edit

As noted by Jtayl132 (talk · contribs) at Portal talk:Current events/March 2016, some of the monthly archives are currently displaying no news, because the pages have dropped into Category:Pages where post-expand include size is exceeded. Part of the problem is the switch from {{Current events header}} to {{Current events}}, as each day's news is passed into the header template and counts towards the post-expand size. But I've managed to fix Portal:Current events/March 2016 just by applying subst: to the call to Portal:Current events/Month Inclusion (diff).

Any comments, before I do that to the other 30+ broken archives? -- John of Reading (talk) 09:11, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
