Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Illustrating Tolkien
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) Show the visual style of Mary Fairburn's illustration, supporting the discussion in the text of why Tolkien liked it so much as to consider an illustrated The Lord of the Rings, contrary to Tolkien's stated opinion, discussed and cited in the article, that fantasy would not benefit from illustration. Fairburn's work remains, given its very limited and late publication, rather unfamiliar to general readers and even to Tolkien fans, so in an article about 'Illustrating Tolkien', it is necessary to show her work to support the text and allow readers to consider for themselves whether a set of her illustrations would have been appropriate for The Lord of the Rings, and to decide why Tolkien might have been as enthusiastic as he was about her wor.
