Summary

Description
English: Soldiers' Gate, Manchester Victoria station.

Text reads:

To the memory of the many thousands of men who passed through this door to the Great War 1914–1919 and of those who did not return.

The Soldiers' Gate was refurbished during the redevelopment of Victoria Station in 2015.

The contemporary insertion into the original gateway features a map which locates the sites of World War I Commonwealth grave sites and cemeteries through Northern France and Belgium.

The size of individual penetrations through the steel corresponds to the number of fallen buried in each location.
