B - Allosteric Site
C - Substrate
D - Inhibitor
E - Enzyme
In this process, the substrate (C) binds to the enzyme (E) at the active site (A). This enzyme is functioning normally, and is not inhibited.
In this process, an inhibitor (D) binds to the allosteric site (B) on the enzyme (E), causing a change in the shape of the enzyme. The substrate (C) can no longer bind to the active site (A) of the enzyme.
