Gainesville Interchange project
The Gainesville Interchange project, being run by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is mainly between Interstate 66 and US 29, but will greatly affect SR 55 and SR 619. Currently, SR 55 intersects with Gallerher Road (SR 707), which crosses U.S. 29 and becomes SR 619, Linton Hall Road. According to plans by VDOT, Gallerher Road will be renamed SR 55 (John Marshall Highway), and the former SR 55 between Gallerher and U.S. 29 will become a cul-de-sac, without access to U.S. 29.
