== BackgroundHistory ==
Songwol-dong was called Solgol or Songsan because there were many pine trees, but now it is called Songwol-dong because of the beauty of the moon seen through the pine forest. After the opening of Incheon Port in 1883, foreigners began to live there, forming a wealthy village. However, as young people left to settle and work in other regions like Seoul while elderly people lived in the village for decades, the village lost its vitality since 1970 and became stagnant, and empty houses were neglected.<ref name=":1">{{Cite web |date=2019-02-01 |title=멈춰 선 협궤열차, 계속되는 소래의 자연 |url=https://korean.visitkorea.or.kr/detail/rem_detail.do?cotid=0180a807-3798-4f41-8caa-fb10508f67c8&con_type=11000 |access-date=2023-04-30 |website=[[VisitKorea.or.kr]] |language=ko}}</ref><ref name=":2">{{Cite web |title=Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village (송월동 동화마을) |url=https://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/ATR/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp?cid=2372167 |access-date=2023-04-30 |website=Visitkorea.or.kr}}</ref>

=== Revitalization ===
In order to improve the poor residential environment, a flower road was made, and the walls were painted with the theme of world-famous fairy tales to transform it into a fairy tale village. The residential environment improvement project, which started in 2013, has completely transformed Songwol-dong into Donghwa Village over a period of about two years. A total of 11 themed roads were created, such as Dorothy Road, Little Red Riding Hood Road, and Traditional Fairy Tale Road.<ref name=":1" /><ref name=":2" /><ref name=":4">{{Cite web |title=인천 중구 문화관광 |url=https://www.icjg.go.kr/tour |access-date=2023-04-30 |website=www.icjg.go.kr |language=ko}}</ref> The village has become a tourist attraction that is constantly visited by tourists.
