Its neighbouring provinces are [[Tunceli Province|Tunceli]], [[Erzurum Province|Erzurum]], [[Muş Province|Muş]], [[Diyarbakır Province|Diyarbakır]], [[Erzincan Province|Erzincan]] and [[Elazığ Province|Elazığ]]. The province covers an area of 8,125 km<sup>2</sup> and has a population of 255,170. The main spoken languages are [[Turkish language|Turkish]] and [[Zazaki language|Zazaki]]/[[Kurdish languages|Kurdish]]. The capital is [[Bingöl]].
