Baruwal is a Khas Chhetri surname found in people from Nepal. Majority of Baruwal are found in Myagdi, Parbat and other Mid-Western dirstricts of Nepal. Although some of them now re-side in major cities of Nepal or even abroad. Baruwals have a tradition of worshiping Bindyabashini; their kul-deuta or kul-devata (ancestral deity) at annual lineage gatherings.

History
Baruwals are Rajputs-rulers although they have marriage relation with Khasas. They migrated from Garhwal during 13th-14th centuries along with Khatis, Sripali Basnet, Chauhan Chhetri, and Sripalis among Chhetris who are all of same origin as the Thakuris.
