Accordingly, decision makers need a decision support system that helps them attain the best possible solution while minimizing the risk of failure. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques provide a systematic approach to solving travel and tourism problems. However, less is known about the implication of MCDM techniques in travel and tourism research. This study used bibliometric analysis to identify the most prolific and influential countries, journals, publications, and trends applying MCDM techniques in travel and tourism research. This study shed light on the implications of MCDM techniques in travel and tourism research and provides guidelines for future research directions.

However, less is known about the application of MCDM techniques in H&T research. This study aims to systematically assess the use of MCDM techniques in H&T research to classify its current application and determine its application potential for H&T research. Design/methodology/approach This study used bibliometric analysis to examine all published MCDM studies focused on H&T industries, since 1997. In addition, topic modelling was used to discover key concepts. Finally, top cited studies in terms of total citations per year and total citations were qualitatively reviewed for more insights. Findings The findings revealed an ongoing interest in applying MCDM techniques in H&T research. Specifically, the extension of fuzzy theory in MCDM techniques is burgeoning among H&T researcher...

Through a quantitative research method and judgmental sampling, data were collected from 192 flight attendants in the private and public airline companies in Iran in three different waves. To control common method variance, this study applied procedural and statistical remedies. The results emerging from this study show that implementing ethical leadership behaviours by airline managers sends signals concerning ethical values of the organization among cabin crews which results in greater perceived ethical values fit in terms of person-organization and person-job fit. Cabin crews, who perceive high levels of fit with the job and the airline, are less expected to involve in counterproductive work behaviour. The study discusses theoretical implications ...

An expert panel was shaped to gauge judgments regarding the driving power of each criterion over the other. The results of Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) revealed that organizational and job characteristics are the main criteria with the most driving power in the model fostering perceived fit. In addition, corporate branding and corporate social responsibility (CSR) demonstrated the highest dependence on the other criteria. The results were further validated through Impact Matrix Crossreference Multiplication to a classification (MICMAC). The hierarchical pattern of study findings offers theoretical contributions to the study of organizational attractiveness. Practical implications of the results and study limitations are also provided.

Design/methodology/approach A mixed-method approach is used to identify and rank workplace stressors. Particularly, the synthesis of relative literature and interview with the panel of experts resulted in the preliminary identification of workplace stressors. Underpinned by fuzzy theory, in addition, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is used to rank identified criteria and relative sub-criteria. Findings Results of three-wave investigation lead to an index comprising key components and weighted ranking of workplace stressors in the tourism and hospitality industry with job characteristics as the most important criteria and mental demand as the most salient sub-criteria influencing stress at work. Research limitations/implications The pattern of findings enhances the current knowledge regarding significant workplace stressors in the tourism and hospitality...

In such a region, hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate passengers’ preferences and willingness to accept low-cost air transport services. Accordingly, a choice experiment was applied to examine passenger choices associated with a bundle of service attributes applicable to low-cost air transport service. Results of multinomial logit models defined fare, frequent flyer program, food and beverage services, ground services, flexibility, frequency and punctuality as determining factors affecting passengers’ air transport choice in Iran. Results further demonstrated that passengers’ preferences and their willingness to accept low-cost air transport service are associated with their socio-economic characteristics and travel behavior. This study contributes to the relative body of knowledge through offering...

As the AHP method requires, several pairwise comparisons were made using linguistic variable to determine the weights of criteria and sub-criteria. According to the results, value added processes have been found as the most important criteria while core products and services under value proposition criterion have been identified as the most important sub-criteria. This study suggests fuzzy AHP as a useful method in determining the important attributes of business model. In addition, the results of the present study contribute to the business model literature by determining importance and weights of criteria and sub-criteria for the airline business model and may act as a strategic tool to modify or generate a winning business model for the airline industry.

As a neglected theory in organizational research, attribution theory is used to link psychological entitlement to interpersonal and organizational deviant behavior through the mediating effect of egoistic deprivation.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire survey was conducted in governmental and public airline companies in Iran. The survey yielded 294 effective questionnaires. Study relationships were gauged using structural equation modeling.FindingsAccording to the results, psychological entitlement boosts cabin crews’ egoistic deprivation and interpersonal and organizational deviant behavior. Consistent with hypothesized proposition, cabin crews’ egoistic deprivation fosters interpersonal deviant behavior. Particularly, it appears that egoistic deprivation among cabin crews partially mediates the effect of...

Through its conceptual model, this study posits internal brand equity as the intervening mechanism which links management commitment to internal branding to role-prescribed customer service, extra-role customer service and cooperation. Data were gathered from a sample of flight attendants in Iran. According to the results stem from structural equation modeling, management commitment to internal branding positively affects internal brand equity. In turn, internal brand equity positively associates with role-prescribed customer service, extra-role customer service and cooperation. Results further revealed that, internal brand equity acts as full mediator in the relationship between management commitment to internal branding and extra-role customer service as well as partial mediator in the relationships between management commitment to internal branding and role-prescribed customer service and cooperation. In light of social influence theory, this study contributes to internal branding literature through its empirical evidence and managerial implications.

Applying fraternal deprivation as the mediator, this study develops and tests a conceptual model which investigates the impact of compensation satisfaction on turnover intention and theft among cabin crew in Iran. The results of SEMbased Partial Least Squares (PLS) methodology revealed that compensation satisfaction leads to decreased fraternal deprivation on part of cabin crew. Moreover, fraternal deprivation significantly increases turnover intention and theft among them. Results further suggest fraternal deprivation mediates the above-mentioned relationships. Managerial implications and avenue for further research are discussed.

Design/methodology/approach – Data were gathered from flight attendants, with a time lag of two weeks in the private airline companies in Iran. The relationships were gauged using structural equation modeling. Findings – The results suggest that career opportunities seem to be the most important indicator of HPWPs, followed by rewards, selective staffing, empowerment, teamwork, job security and training. The results further suggest that the availability of HPWPs boosts flight attendants’ CSAT and that, in turn, results in elevated levels of service recovery performance. Originality/value – This study contributes to the current literature by linking HPWPs, as manife...

Data obtained from flight attendants with a time lag of two weeks in Iran were used to test the aforementioned relationships through structural equation modeling. The results suggest that JE functions as a full mediator of the joint effects of HPWPs on performance outcomes. Specifically, HPWPs jointly enhance JE. JE in turn leads to elevated levels of CP and ERCS. Implications of the results are discussed and future research directions are offered.

Data were collected from flight attendants with a time lag of two weeks in Iran to assess these relationships. The results reveal that career opportunities, empowerment, selective staffing, rewards, job security, teamwork, and training as the indicators of high-performance work practices foster perceived organizational support and reduce turnover intentions. Management implications and avenues for future research are provided in the current study.
