One major challenge during this phase of life is making decisions regarding one's career. At this stage the parenting practices used by the parents might differ with respect to the gender of the child, so as to cater to the specific needs of the gender. It becomes important to have an insight about the perception of these parenting practices from the perspective of the adolescents. The current paper explores the same and tries to examine the prevalence of gender differences in Perceived Parenting and Career Decision Making. It also tries to assess the relationship between perceived parenting and career decision making. 50 girls and 50 boys of the age range 18-20 years were selected for the study. t-test and Pearson's correlation were used to evaluate the obtained data. Achievement Motivation and Career Locus of Control are psychological constructs that drive people... more Achievement Motivation and Career Locus of Control are psychological constructs that drive people towards excellence and accomplishment in life. The present study aimed at investigating gender differences in Achievement Motivation and Career Locus of Control (CLC) in college boys and girls living in urban India. Young people who are highly motivated to achieve in college will strive towards attaining success in their academic and career endeavours which is usually associated with securing ones future. The study sample comprised of 100 college students (50 boys and 50 girls) who were enrolled in undergraduate courses in colleges in Delhi NCR. Data was collected and analysed using t test in SPSS. Significant gender differences were observed in both the variables.<br> Boys showed higher level of Achievement Motivation compared to girls.
