The dragon shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series, likely constituting of dragon skin, scales and bones, perhaps even bearing the likeness of a dragon. In keeping with this, it grants excellent resistance to fire breath. Starting with Dragon Quest X, it became classified as a greatshield.
Characteristics[edit]
The design of the dragon shield has stayed practically consistent throughout the series history. It is a round green shield that has been fashioned out of various dragon scales and horns and features a distinctive design of a fierce dragon's head on its front. The border of the shield is surrounded by eight horns. The dragon's head has a pair of red gemstones as eyes, another pair of red gems on the forehead, and a pair of curved horns on each side. A coiled dragon's tail decorates the bottom of the shield.
Since the shield's introduction in Dragon Quest IV, it has appeared consistently in every game in the main series, as well as multiple spinoff games.
