Fe Angela Verzosa
Fe Angela M. Verzosa, Retired University Archivist of DLSU-Manila (1988-2006), Library Director (1994-1998) of DLSU-Manila, Graduate of AB History and MLS, UP Diliman 1966 and 1978. Took up post-graduate training/studies at US National Archives, Washington DC, US and University of Aberystwyth, Wales, UK 1982 and 1995.
Career Highlights
• Organized the Presidential Papers of Manuel L. Quezon, Jose P. Laurel, Carlos P. Garcia, and Elpidio Quirino (1967-1978)
• Established the Microfilm Section of UP Main Library and Ateneo de Manila-Rizal Library (1967-72, 1974-75); Organized the UP Diliman Library manuscript collections, such as the papers of UP President Carlos P. Romulo, the Faustino Aguilar Literary Collection, Jorge Bocobo Papers, and the Hukbalahap Records including court records of Amado Hernandez. Took over and expanded the Theses Microfiche Project and its ERIC Collection at Ateneo’s Rizal Library; Established the Archives-Library- Museum of Jose P.Laurel Memorial Foundation, 975-1987; Established the DLSU University Archives as a major section in the Library,1988-2006.
*In June 2001 she was elected head of the Executive Committee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS) until 2004
*As a member of the DLSU ranked faculty, she was active as a Board director of the Faculty Association, contributing her skill and expertise in negotiating for a new Faculty Manual (1993 and (2002) as a member of the Technical Panel for its Revision. She was the first faculty to be promoted to the highest rank for non-teaching faculty ~ as Associate Professor, Rank 3-5 in 2003.
*Took her oath as licensed librarian in February 1994 and joined the Philippine Librarians Assn in 1995 as a member of the Board.In 2000 she was elected President of PLAI and represented the organization at the 11th CONSAL in Singapore. She was Chair of the Program Committee for the 13th CONSAL held in Manila in 2006. She received numerous awards from PLAI including the Hall of Fame in 2008 as its own hallmark of professional excellence for having been consistently recognized for professionalism, leadership and service.
*She joined PAARL as PRO in 1997 and became its President also in 2000 concurrently as PLAI President. She was awarded by PAARL as Outstanding Academic Librarian in 1996 and received numerous Service Awards, culminating in the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 as its own hallmark of professional excellence.
*Finally, her lifetime achievements were recognized in June 2006 by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) when she was awarded the Outstanding Professional Librarian of the year, a month after her retirement from DLSU.
