I bought a tutorial video from @hammerlyceramics and my dad came over to help me. I think he was actually more interested in this process than me. I never intended to use slip casting as a way to make my work. Now, I’m loving everything about this process and constantly thinking about what I can make next.   What’s really interesting is that my Dad’s great-grandfather immigrated to the US from Germany in the late 1800’s. In Germany he worked in the production of porcelain goods made through slip casting. When he came to the United States he worked as a kiln builder for glass production. Following on from my first test piece with fabric and porcelain slip I looked for materials at home with texture that I could cast with porcelain. I found some cotton yarn that looks embroidered and some wool with a shaggy texture. I also found some organza and wanted to see how that would turn out, since it is not cotton, I expected it to work less well and repel some of the porcelain.
