2020-05-01 22:13:50 UTC

It’s a start

2020-05-01 23:59:29 UTC

Looking to move to NH from NY.

2020-05-01 23:59:55 UTC

Good move. NH is freedom land on the east coast

2020-05-02 00:00:38 UTC

That's what I hear.

2020-05-02 00:01:54 UTC

Curious to know how property taxes are compared to long island, NY. I pay about 4k/year with little to no property (condo). Wife's parents pay around 14k/year for half an acre.

2020-05-02 00:20:40 UTC

hard question to answer..i have land ~60 acres i pay ~$600 a year but a house on 1/4 acre ,I pay $6K

2020-05-02 00:32:22 UTC

Depends on if you’re in a town with a big high school and stuff

2020-05-02 00:44:42 UTC

Property tax is high in NH. And thats the only thing thats expensive.

2020-05-02 00:58:51 UTC

electricity is expensive.

2020-05-02 01:03:08 UTC

You don’t have to pay for your freedoms as much either

2020-05-02 01:17:43 UTC

true. My friends in Mass have a hard time wrapping their heads around our lack of gun laws/registration. They do get a kick out of the highway liquor stores though

2020-05-02 01:19:18 UTC

Highway liquor stores are the best when you’re on your way to the mtns

2020-05-02 01:34:43 UTC

To be fair, the people in MA are not allowed much exposure to guns. We have very few ranges and the process for legal purchase is purposefully difficult. And when you combine that with public educations lack of information on even basic liberties, most assume it is equally difficult everywhere

2020-05-02 01:37:22 UTC

Even I wasn't aware that private sales were "permitted" until a few years ago. I assumed the state had forbidden such acts of private commerce

2020-05-02 01:39:17 UTC

in MA?

2020-05-02 01:41:30 UTC

Yes

2020-05-02 01:43:15 UTC

you're right, I would have assumed that was one of the first things to go. My current favorite MA law is an empty casing is a felony. I'm afraid to drive there after a range day

2020-05-02 01:47:11 UTC

Well everything is heavily regulated and the authorities don't appreciate the thought of someone defending themselves. Makes their job easier if they're assured of superiority if challenged. And the amount of new inmates must be kept steady afterall

2020-05-02 01:49:19 UTC

look on the bright side, y'all have a republican governor for a while. Deval would have done some michigan level stuff during 'these trying times'

2020-05-02 01:55:43 UTC

Baker is as much a Republican as Romney was. Our state Republican party numbers in the low thousands. Any politician here must be willing to surrender any shred of conviction they may have had. But I agree, having a full fledged Democrat in the corner office would be like having an Emperor. Unlimited power

2020-05-02 01:56:28 UTC

Vermont....

2020-05-02 01:57:34 UTC

yeah i guess i should have put 'republican' in quotes

2020-05-02 01:59:04 UTC

what's vermont doing? they seem quiet...maybe too quiet. Are they plotting to get their half of the river back? To Arms!!

2020-05-02 01:59:51 UTC

Vermont is closed. They are only open during normal buisness hours😂😂

2020-05-02 02:00:03 UTC

It's late up there

2020-05-02 02:00:22 UTC

they've got syrup to make or something
