Longtime Disney executive Alexandra (Alex) Weinberger has joined Amazon MGM Studios as head, YA and comedy, ongoing series. In the newly created position, she will report to Laura Lancaster, head of co-prod television and ongoing series.
Weinberger’s team will take over those of Prime Video’s slate of freshman young adult and comedy series that go to a second season. The slate includes Cruel Intentions, We Were Liars, Motorheads, Off Campus, Every Year After and Overcompensating.
Most recently, Weinberger worked as a producer and creative consultant on the Dear Media female empowerment podcast Coming in Hot.
Weinberger previously worked at Disney for 21 years. At ABC Studios, she was an executive in current programming and oversaw Shonda Rhimes/Shondaland series Private Practice, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and Station 19, as well as Greg Berlanti Productions series such as Brothers and Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, and Eli Stone.

Prior to that, Weinberger led Comedy Series Development and Current at ABC Studios predecessor Touchstone Television, overseeing such current series as Scrubs and My Wife & Kids.
Weinberger began her scripted career as Manager, Current Series at ABC Entertainment where she had day-to-day oversight of Spin City, Dharma and Greg, Home Improvement, and The Drew Carey Show.
