Film support agency European Film Promotion has selected this year’s ten European Shooting Stars, the emerging talent roster celebrated during the Berlin Film Festival. Making the grade were Elliott Crosset Hove from Denmark, star of Winter Brothers; Estonian actress Lest-Liik, star of feature November; Emma Drogunova from Germany, star of The Tobacconist; and Kristín Thora
Haraldsdóttir from Iceland, star of And Breathe Normally. Also chosen were Aisling Franciosi from Ireland, whose credits include Games Of Thrones and The Nightingale; Macedonian actor Blagoj Veselinov of Secret Ingredient; Dawid Ogrodnik from Poland, star of Silent Night; Norwegian actress Ine Marie Wilmann, known for Sonja: The White Swan; Serbian actor Milan Marić from Dovlatov, which screened this year in competition in Berlin; and The
Charmer star Ardalan Esmaili from Sweden. Previous Shooting Stars include Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts, Domhnall Gleeson and Baltasar Kormákur. The 2019 jury included U.S. casting director Avy Kaufman, film critic Tara Karajica from Serbia, Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska, producer Macdara Kelleher from Ireland and Icelandic Shooting Star from 1999, Ingvar Sigurdsson.

Twentieth Century Fox has promoted its Austrian chief Benjamin Bach to head up its theatrical business in Germany. Bach has been named Theatrical Managing Director of Germany and Austria and takes over from Vincent de la Tour, who is leaving after 27 years. Previous to joining Fox in 2012, he worked for Universal Pictures in London as well as Indian Bollywood studio Eros International. He continues to report to Paul Higginson, Executive Vice President, EMEA, 20th Century Fox. Higginson said, “I have known Benjamin for 15 years. He has exceptional experience and business acumen. He is an accomplished Executive and I am delighted that he has agreed to manage our German operation in addition to his responsibilities in Austria”. Bach added, “I am excited about taking on this new endeavour, working with very talented and creative individuals and contributing to the continued success of the German Fox operation.”
