I have a fabric-covered journal with lists dating back to middle school. Concerts I went to, gift ideas, quotations. Clearly I’ve been a list-lover since I was young. Sometimes I make pretend lists using found text. Any kind of list will do, and if you think about it — almost any journal entry could be fashioned or morphed into list format. Lists in spreadsheets. Lists in to-do apps. Typewriter style serif numerals are always inviting. I could make a list that is complete nonsense. Or a list that only “looks” like a list. Or I’ll pre-number a list so I can fill it over the course of the day.
People usually focus on the WHAT of the list. But have some fun with the way you make your lists.
