Kate Clarkson on Instagram: "My viral reel of 2024 was all about colour drenching and what you do with the paint on the door, so I decided to re work it to try and help others! Who knew, me caressing a door and door frame would be the thing to gain me over 22,000 followers! Anyways, we have done a lot of colour doors, and it is always: Hinge side of the door is always the colour of the room it swings away from. Latch side of the door is always the colour of the room it swings in to. Any questions, let me know! ✨ xxxxxx #colourdrenching #colourdrenchingideas #colourdrenchingdoors"

Mistletoe Lane Home on Instagram: "One of the biggest stressors when decorating your home is picking out a paint color! Especially when you paint it on the wall and it looks COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE SWATCH! 🙄 Having the same color throughout of all the main areas in your home helps automatically create the cohesive feeling that many homes lack. This is especially important if you have an open floor plan, having different colors within each “room” can make it feel awkward. For traditional floor plans, this will help make your home feel more open and less “choppy”! Our walls are @sherwinwilliams Alabaster. This is the PERFECT creamy off white. It feels fresh and clean, without looking “dirty” 🌿🤍 🔗 Follow me & comment “home” for links, or shop the link in my bio! #homedecor #home
Kelsey Berry | Transitional DIY Home on Instagram: "So you’ve got a two-toned door but don’t know where to switch colors? I got you! 📌 The design rule here is that you paint the outside edge to match the color of the side the door swings INTO. And the inside edge to match the color of the side the door swings AWAY from. This way, the color transition feels a lot more natural! Save this post for the next time you paint your doors (trust me, it’s an underrated yet impactful project) and send to a friend who needs to see this! #diyhousetohome #diyhomedecor #diyhomeimprovement #diyreels #diyhomerenovation #budgetfriendlydiy #diyhomeprojects #diyhome"

HANDS DOWN, the no. 1 question/request I get about our kitchen is for our island and shelving stain color 🤩. Truth be told, it’s a custom color by Mouser called Cadet BUT, I spent some time in @sherwinwilliams in an attempt to match it and THIS IS IT! 🙌🏻🙌🏻. The custom match is SO CLOSE to the stain on my island—it has all the same tones and should work perfectly. Here are a few notes for you: 🪵 the species of wood on our island and shelving is quarter sawn white oak, so I tested this stain color on the exact same type of wood. If you use it on a different kind of wood, the color may be different. 🪵 when you try this stain col

Better late than never, right? • These hacks will make painting quicker, easier, and provide the best results. Details below... • 1. Use a lint roller or tape to remove loose fluff from the roller before use, preventing it from transferring and spoiling your latest project. 2. Spray the roller lightly with water to create a barrier so the paint doesn't soak up and cause wastage. The paint will also glide onto the walls much more smoothly. 3. Add an elastic bag around the paint tin to wipe drips and provide a resting spot for the brush. 4. At the end of your project, use a roller squeegee to remove paint soaked into the roller before rinsing clean so it can be used again an
Hannah Joyce | Home Design & DIY on Instagram: "Got orange wood and want to change it?? I tried this mixture on an orange wood tone lamp and it transformed into a beautiful rustic white oak look. And the best part is, I didn’t have to sand or strip the sealer off! - 2 coats paint wash - 1 coat gel stain - 1 coat polyurethane (optional) Unlike stain, paint will adhere to a sealed surface. Watering it down allows the wood grain to remain visible rather than covering it. And then the gel stain applied on top allows you to alter the color to get that wood tone. If you want the step by step details comment “paintwash” and I will message you the info! . . . Molly Miller | DIY Home Improvement on Instagram: "Everything you need to know about paint sheens ✨ Rule #1… There are no rules, its all a matter of personal preference really🤷‍♀️ Do what you love and what works best for you and your specific circumstances. With that being said, its good to know the strengths and weaknesses of each sheen when choosing a paint, so here’s some info that might be helpful ⬇️ Flat and matte- Generally used on ceilings, great at hiding imperfections but difficult to clean. Egg shell (low luster) finish - This one is my personal fav because it gives that matte look while still being easy to clean, typically used in living rooms, bedrooms and in my house… every room 😅🤫 Satin (25-35% sheen) - Generally used in kitchens/ bathrooms because it can be easily w
