Young Priest in Varanasi

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Varanasi, also known as Banaras, is a holy city in India and a major center of Hinduism. The city is known for its many temples, and it is not uncommon to see young boys training to become priests and caretakers of these sacred sites. The young priests of Varanasi begin their training at a young age, usually between the ages of 8 and 12. They are taught the rituals and customs associated with their temple, including how to perform pujas (worship ceremonies) and how to recite mantras (sacred chants). They are also taught about the history and significance of their temple and the deities worshipped there.
