| Description |
English: This small town in Colorado is Cripple Creek, the namesake of the Cripple Creek Mining District. The area is famous for having rocks rich in gold mineralization. The hill in the background is Mount Pisgah, a relatively small intrusion of Early Oligocene-aged phonolite, which is a common lithology in the Cripple Creek region. Phonolite is an extrusive to shallow intrusive, aphanitic to porphyritic, alkaline igneous rock.
