Description Tom the Tinker, an anonymous whiskey rebel, allegedly, a farmer named John Hollcroft from Finleyville, Pennsylvania. Under the cover of night, Tom the Tinker distributed letters protesting the Whiskey tax and destroyed stills of people who agreed to pay it. "Hurrah for Tom the Tinker!" became a rallying cry of the Whiskey Rebellion.
