DescriptionTanjore Madhava Rao 1880.jpg | PORTRAIT OF SIR TANJORE MADHAVA RAO,He was painted by Ravi Varma on a number of occasions. Two portraits now in the Maharaja Fatesingh Museum, Baroda and another in the Victoria Memorial Hall, Calcutta show a slightly older Sir Madhava Rao than the current lot but the similarities are apparent. Whether this was painted by Ravi Varma or another artist patronized by Sir Madhava Rao is uncertain but records indicate that Ravi Varma was invited to Baroda by Sir Madhava Rao in 1880, which would tie in with the decipherable part of the inscription 'Baroda 80'. | ||||||
