English: Phyllosilicates refer to a group of minerals to which clay belongs. These are naturally occurring material composed primarily of fine grained minerals which is generally plastic at appropriate water contents and will harden when dried or fired. Their presence on Mars is a good indication of a past water environment.
The Libya Montes are a highland terrain on Mars up-lifted by the giant impact that created the Isidis basin to the north. After they formed by the Isidis impact, Libya Montes were subsequently modified by a large variety of processes, including fluvial activity, wind erosion and additional impact cratering.
