Pour lui ces 5 piliers sont également indispensables et doivent être mis en œuvre ensemble. Un défaillance ou un retard de l'un des piliers empêcherait le développement des autres. Español: Esquema con los 5 pilares de la Tercera Revolución Industrial, tal como se presentaron en el proyecto de Jeremy Rifkin. Según esta concepción, estos 5 pilares son indispensables y deben ser coetaños, o sea, deben implementarse juntos (la falla o el retraso en la introducción de uno de estos pilares, implicaría el retraso o subdesarrollo de los otros).
Enumeración de los pilares: (1) Transición energética (energías renovables, eficiencia energética, y desarrollo sostenible) ; (2) Edificación plus: Muchos edificios (y en particular los hogares familiares) producen entonces más energía generada por fuentes renovables, respecto de la energía importada de la red; o sea, muchas edificaciones podrían considerarse que son, cada una de ellas, como una mini-central eléctrica, pues a lo largo del año inyectan energía a la red ; (3) Producción de hidrógeno (economía de hidrógeno) y almacenamiento energético ; (4) Red eléctrica inteligente (REI) ; (5) Vehículos conectados, híbridos e híbridos eléctricos, y pilas de hidrógeno.
