Description
English: Panorama of Edo (now Tokyo) showing daimyo residences, Japan. Five albumen silver prints joined to form a panorama. Original Beato's title: Panorama of Yedo from Atagoyama Following the end of the Shogunate in 1867, the daimyo residences in Edo (now Tokyo) were razed so that government, commercial and industrial buildings could be built in their place (Modot, p. 528).
