Of course, any fireworks within that area of the town (its center, and UNESCO World Heritage!) are disallowed by law. Nevertheless, it would hardly be possible to prevent all those people from igniting consumer pyrotechnics. Therefore, paramedics, police and fire arms are present, but rarely have to interfere. The 'Stephansplatz' new year's celebrations are quite a happening for several decades. Vienna's underground station 'Stephansplatz' is closed on that evening. |
