Photographer
State Government Photographer
Title
Murray Mouth Barrage
Description

1. This is not the Goolwa Barrage (G. Brooks)

2. This is, however, one of the Murray Mouth Barrages. Their radial gates between concrete pylons can be seen, and they are different from the gates of the Goolwa Barrage. The State Library has an image, B10187, in its Pictorial Collection which suggests that this is the Mundoo Barrage. It could also be the Tauwitchere Barrage, though photos of it show handrails. They may have been added at a later date. The barrages were opened in 1940 and this one has a 'new' appearance. The title has been amended accordingly.
