| Description |
English: Moorland mist on Brown Hill Brown Hill is one of the highest points in Grid Square NZ6711. The road shown in the left-hand side of the picture (Smeathorns Road) links the villages of Castleton and Commondale with the A171 road (to Middlesbrough and Whitby). In the winter this road is often very misty (as shown in this picture) and can be snow-bound. The 'marker-post' that is visible on the edge of the road is one of many that show the route of the road during snowy conditions. |
