| Description |
English: Glenbuchat Castle This fortalice was built in 1590 on a Z plan with numerous shot holes for defence. Its most famous laird was the redoubtable 'Old Glenbuchat', John Gordon of Glenbuchat, who served in both the 1715 & 1745 Jacobite Risings. He raised a regiment for Prince Charlie during the '45 and was given a commission as Major General. After Culloden his estates were forfeited. He escaped to Sweden and died aged 72 at Boulogne in 1750. |
