Description

Old-growth white pine, Tillman Ravine Natural Area, Sussex County, within Stokes State Forest.

The natural area, located on the west slope of Kittatinny Mountain, contains old-growth hemlocks, white pines, and mixed hardwoods interspersed with second-growth trees. Some hemlocks have succumbed to the woolly adelgid, an exotic insect pest.
