Description
Shqip: Kompleks banimi (Emin Gjiku) Muzeu Etnologjik
English: The residential complex "Emin Gjiku" found in the old city of Pristina, in the northeast end of the current center of the city, near the Great Hamam Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque. Ensemble "Emin Gjiku" was built at the beginning of the century. Century and was owned by the family of Gjinolli known. Gjinolli Emin nickname was "little man", or Turkish Eminçik, which later became Emin Gjik, from the complex takes its name. The complex consists of two large courtyards: the courtyard at the entrance to the barn and a stone building and the inner courtyard of the house in which the family and house guests, which currently serve the Ethnological Museum. Stone building, restored it in 1960, it is the only building remaining from the Old Bazaar. Floor building is covered with stone roof, once a blacksmith shop, currently the center of contemporary art called "station". Courtyards are surrounded by high walls, 55 cm thick, built of mud-brick and wood hatulla. Houses and stalls reflect architectural harmony of proportions and elements. During different periods of time (almost two centuries), the complex has undergone numerous changes as a result of changing the function. But as a whole, complex "Emin Gjiku" remains one of the best examples of town houses start of the century. XIX. Complex "Emin Gjiku" is owned by the Museum of Kosovo, which has the duty to facilitate access to buildings of the complex, collection, programs and services for all visitors
