English: ISLAMIC, Egypt & Syria (Pre-Fatimid). Tulunids. Ahmad bin Tulun. AH 254-270 / AD 868-884. AV Dinar (24mm, 4.13 g, 10h). Misr (Fustat) mint. Dated AH 268 (AD 881/2). Grabar 8; AGC I 191De; Album 661. VF, areas of flat strike, slightly wavy flan.
The dinar contains the standard set of inscriptions found on Abbasid coins of the late ninth century. As follows: Obverse center: لا إله إلا \ الله وحده \ لا شريك له \ المفوض إلى الله "There is no god but God alone; He has no partner. [The heir-apparent] al-Mufawwad ila-Allah." For more details see:
