Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 11. Januar 1864 gemäß preußischer Kabinettsorder genehmigt. Von 1890-1919 wurde dem Adler eine Herzogkrone hinzugefügt. Es geht wahrscheinlich auf das Wappen von Bolesław I. „den Langen“ zurück (1127–1201), dessen Vater Władysław II. „der Vertriebene“ die Linie der schlesischen Piasten begründete.
English: The arms were officially granted on January 11, 1864. The eagle was first used by Duke Boleslaw I. (1127–1201) and has been used as the arms for the area since, even though the Duchy itself did no longer exist. The meaning of the arms is not clear. |
