Das Einsatzgebiet von "Christoph 37" umfasst vor allem die Landkreise Nordhausen, Kyffhäuser, Unstrut Hainich, Eichsfeld, Mansfeld-Südharz, Erfurt, Goslar und Osterode.

Zum Einsatzgebiet zählt auch der gesamte Harz mit dem höchsten Berg, dem Brocken. Darüber hinaus ist die Crew des Nordhäuser Rettungshubschraubers bereichsübergreifend in den Landkreisen Werra Meißner, Wartburg, Göttingen und Northeim im Einsatz. Für den Transport von Intensivpatienten werden die Bundesländer Thüringen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Niedersachsen angeflogen. Zu den häufig angeflogenen Kliniken zählen das Zentralklinikum Bad Berka, die BGU Halle, das Herzzentrum Leipzig, die Uniklinik Göttingen, die Uniklinik Magdeburg und die Unikliniken Jena.

Der EC 135 ist ein leichter zweimotoriger Mehrzweckhubschrauber. Er wurde vom Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB)-Konzern entwickelt, der später in Eurocopter Deutschland aufging. Sein Einsatzgebiet liegt hauptsächlich in der Luftrettung und als Polizeihubschrauber oder bei vergleichbaren paramilitärischen Aufgaben. Er wird zunehmend auch zur Ausbildung und Schulung von Piloten verwendet, beispielsweise in der Bundeswehr oder den japanischen Luftselbstverteidigungsstreitkräften.

The Eurocopter EC135 is a twin-engine civil helicopter produced by Eurocopter, widely used amongst police and ambulance services and for executive transport. It is capable of flight under instrument flight rules (IFR).
