Deutsch: Die Bürger der Stadt Zürich leisten am 1. Mai 1351 den Bundesschwur vor Vertretern der vier Waldstätte (von links) Schwyz, Uri, Unterwalden und Luzern. Mit dem Schwur wird der Beitritt Zürichs zur schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft bestätigt. Der Schreiber auf der rechten Seite liest den Bundesbrief vor. Die Abgesanten tragen Richtschwerter und Hellebarden. Die farbigen Kleider der Personen zeigen ihre Zugehörigkeit zu den entsprechenden Kantonen.
English: Citizens of Zurich on 1 May 1351 are swearing alleigeance to the Swiss Confederation before representatives of Uri, Schwyz, Unterwalden and Lucerne. The person on the right side is a scribe reading the Federal Charter. One of the representatives carries a typical Swiss Halberd of the period.
