Description
Painting by Frances C. Fairman (1836-1923), of Boxer Rebellion. The original title was, The agreement: England and Japan, 1902, and the painting refers to the aftermath of the Boxer Rebellion. The oil on canvas painting shows a bulldog and a Japanese spaniel (now called Japanese Chin) standing in front of an ivory pagoda. The scroll says "Kingdom Japan China, 1901".
