FACTORY DISTRICT
These views shew a portion of the manufacturing district on the N.E. portion of the town, the Danube shewing in the distance. Most of the factories seen are Brick Works and Saw Mills, and there is also a Wool Factory, a large Slaughter House and Sausage Factory, and, in another part of the town, a Match Factory.
I ought to have said that these factories did exist; at the present moment the chimney shaft is practically all that remains. Viewed from a distance they appear practically intact, but, on close inspection, they are a mass of ruins, and in many instances one can hardly say the bare walls remain. Such as are standing would practically have to be rebuilt for carrying any s* or machinery, and it is almost needless to say th* a scrap of metal in any shape or form remains. * time of writing the only factory capable of worki* Brewery.
Generally speaking, the Industrial pr* of Serbia has been very small, and in all the lar* for some years to come, there should be a good ma* all kinds of household and other personal and dom* commodities. It may be stated that in the count* peasant women spin, weave, and make nearly all th* necessary fot their clothes and household materia*
