English: The largest fort in Kerala, India. Built in 1650 AD by Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi, the fort was used by Britishers to trade with India, the fort was also ruled by Mysore kings, Haider Ali and Tippu Sultan. It is one of the spectacular places in India and must see the place. Overlooking Arabian sea, the structure, walls, pillars and underground bunkers are well preserved and protected. One can easily go in the imagination of history after visiting this place. The place is very near to Kasargod town and the nearest city is Mangalore. The fort was also used in shooting a film song and other entertainment purpose. |
