English: Los Yumbos fueron un pueblo preincaico que se asentó en lo que hoy es de Nanegalito y Tulipe, al noroccidente de Quito.
Su fiesta ancestral es la Yumbada, que mezcla la tradición católica del Corpus Christi, con costumbres nativas, consta de yumbos, que son lo varones, y las yumbas, las mujeres, y otro grupo, los “mates” quienes ahuyentan a los malos espíritus. La danza es por la celebración del Inti Raymi o solsticio de verano (21 de junio) En esta celebración, los yumbos comparten los productos de la tierra, de sus chacras, en la pambamesa, comida colectiva en la que se sirven alimentos tradicionales como la chicha, el maíz, el mote, la arveja, el chocho, el tostado, entre otros. La Yumbada de Cotocollao se relaciona con ese pueblo porque era la puerta de entrada de los yumbos a Quito. En el sector de Nono, Tulipe y Nanegalito aún hay coluncos, los caminos construidos por el pueblo yumbo para intercambiar sus productos con otros pueblos. Cotocollao formaba parte del viejo Chaupicruz, puerta de entrada del país de los Yumbos.
