Summary
[edit]DescriptionAsparagus plants - geograph.org.uk - 552470.jpg |
English: Asparagus plants The probably best known member of the family of Asparagacea is the edible variety called Asparagus officinalis, commonly referred to as asparagus. The word asparagus derives from Latin, and the plant was once known in English as sperage, a term that originates from the Greek aspharagos or asparagos, which in turn is derived from the Persian word asparag, meaning "sprout" or "shoot."
Asparagus has been used from very early times as a vegetable as well as a medicinal plant. For more information see Asparagus |
