Summary
[edit]Description3-9 St. Lukes Place (93-81 Leroy Street).jpg |
English: 3 (far) - 9 (near) St. Lukes Place, also numbered as 93 (far) - 81 (near) Leroy Street, between Seventh Avenue South and Hudson Street in the West Village neighborhood of Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City were built in 1852-1853 in the Italianate style, replacing Hudson Park, which was designed by Carrere & Hastings. Prior to that, the land was part of Trinity Church's cemetery, berofre it moved to 155th Street. A marble monument dedicated to members of the Eagle Fire Engine Company #13, which stands in front of #13 St. Lukes Places (not seen here) is a relic of the cemetery, but none of Hudson Park remains. The facade of #8 masks a "remarkable" interior designed in 2007 by David Chipperfield. The building are all located in the Greenwich Village Historic District.
