English: An 1855 Swedish 24 Schilling Banco Dark Red (24 skilling Banco Mörkröd) stamp. From the collections of the Swedish Postal Museum.
Svenska: Frimärke valör 24 skilling banco mörkröd. Handgjort papper med kronornament i arkhörnen samt två parallella linjer i arkmarginalerna.
Sverige var i jämförelse med övriga länder i Europa och Norden ganska sena att introducera frimärken. Den 1 juli 1855 infördes de fem valörerna 3,4,6,8 och 24 skilling banco. 4 skilling banco var avsedd till inrikes brev av enkel klass. Skillingfrimärkena ersattes 1858 av en ny typ med valörer i öre. |
