Description/Blazon A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pairle reversed Azure, Gules and Vert, on a chevron Or eight pallets couped of the second, in chief a cross pattée and a fleur-de-lis of the fourth. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Red scroll turned Gold inscribed "PROBE PIERCE PURSUE" in Gold letters.

Symbolism Green and yellow are the colors associated with Armor. The cross pattée, the badge of the Federal 5th Corps, on the blue field alludes to combat service as Infantry during the Civil War; the fleur-de-lis on red is for combat service as Artillery during World War I. The eight red sections on the chevron symbolize World War II combat service and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation awarded to the organization.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 127th Tank Battalion on 7 December 1953. It was redesignated for the 127th Armor Regiment on 22 March 1962. It was amended to change the symbolism on 5 November 1969.
