Comment It appears that this request also applies to Image:Binnenplaats boerderij Schipborg.JPG here at the Commons. (See the history of nl:Schipborg.) Strictly speaking, I would think the owner of that building has no leg to stand on for a copyright suit. The farm complex was built in 1914, and I don't think farm houses (even if a true manor) qualify as "artistic". Even if it did, the architect, en:Hendrik Petrus Berlage, died in 1934. (See this Dutch article for some info—that could be incorporated into the article on nl:Schipborg, BTW.) But Erik probably knows what the owner has threatend to sue for... Keep -- if there is no legal reason for deletion, why should we delete. Not every person understand copyright laws. / Fred J 14:55, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Despite the general consensus to keep the image, I have deleted it. I have had private communication with the photographer about this issue. While their are no valid legal reasons to delete this image, the owner of the building has some quite severe privacy concerns. I therefore think that it is not ethical for Wikimedia Commons to keep the image. If you want more information, please ask me privately. -- Bryan (talk to me) 08:40, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
