This flag is tagged as "PD simple geometry" but the design on the centre of the flag goes beyond that. It is also tagged as PD "no original authorship" with no evidence of this. A previous deletion request Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Flag of ASEAN.svg determined that it was copyrighted, and undeletion has been declined twice as no evidence was presented that this was incorrect. Keep Easily qualifies as simply geometry, only complicated part is the centre and even that is basic enough. The previous DR did not properly determine the status of the image and had insufficient discussion regarding the originality aspect. Fry1989 eh? 15:26, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Delete On the ASEAN official website, this page states that "The ASEAN Flag is the reserved copyright of ASEAN." Even if it is ineligible for copyright in the US due to simple geometry, it is most likely copyrighted in Indonesia (where the ASEAN Secretariat is situated). English Wikipedia has a local copy of the file which states that it is used under fair use. --Joshua (talk) 16:25, 2 February 2015 (UTC)- Keep Unfortunately under copyright law, although some steps are being taken to punish those who make demands based upon false copyright claims, no penalty for false statements that something is copyrighted by you exists. In a way i can claim that i hold copyright for this flag, and make such statement very prominently on any of my sites, and nothing can be done about it. There is also nothing stopping anybody (like English Wikipedia) from respecting those false copyright claims. This image is definitely PD-simple, the only non-geometric image is a common heraldic image, in fact it would not surprise me if there were a Unicode symbol that looks like this. 85.175.191.152 06:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
