- Keep "Microsoft" and "Copyright" do not always equal to "Non-free". The Microsoft part of this image does not pass through threshold of originality. The source of this file is listed as the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority. Their website claims that content is copyrighted (webpage from which the current revision of the map...JPG image...is linked from..." 2030 Master Plan Concept Development Map").
The link is no longer valid. However, the current revision of this map (Revised 6/25/07) is almost identical in style (although the style and content of the overlaying proposed roads has been significantly altered). It seems very likely that this map is a derivative work (uploader states "modified by self") of an earlier revision of the map I have linked to and, therefore, a derivative of a copyrighted work. - To me this is not a sculpture as well as not a work of art. This is just a polished stone. Not sure to what extend the luck of panorama applies to this image... Oleg (talk) 14:31, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- Keep I do not see any sculptor's work here, it is just a stone — NickK (talk) 23:18, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Kept: Per above: not sculptural work. Anatoliy (talk) 23:49, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
The stone features a symbol and a depiction of two swords; these surpass the threshold of originality. Eleassar (t/p) 20:38, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
- The symbol and a depiction of two swords were removed. Thank you. Regards, Oleg (talk) 21:24, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
- Keep. Well, the symbol on the stone is the coat of arms of Ukraine, well in the public domain per {{PD-UA}}. The bottom one (sword and bulawa) are coming from symbol of Ukrainian cossack regiments who erected this stone (I could not find the high-quality with all details, the simplified version of chevron is here), such insignia is in public domain as well per {{PD-UA}}. Thus both images are in public domain per {{PD-UA}} — NickK (talk) 23:25, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
- There are some differences between the coat of arms in this image and the one that you've linked too. The same goes for the chevron. These may be deemed derivative works per COM:COA#Copyright on the representation. The copyright on the text is also unclear: a translation is needed. --Eleassar (t/p) 08:09, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- I do not think that the derivative work of an image that is not subject of copyright by the law may be copyrighted. The version on this stone is exactly identical to the coat of arms without border, this version is very widely used in Ukraine. The lower image is the symbol of cossacks who erected this stone, I seriously doubt that this exact representation has an author at all — NickK (talk) 18:27, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have removed portions of the text to eliminate potential issues with the copyright of the text as well. Is it OK now? (The remaining text means: “On this place on 22 of January 2005 Viktor Yushchenko was selected to be a Hetman of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!”) Regards, Oleg (talk) 15:53, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
- In my opinion, yes. Therefore only the older versions need to be deleted. --Eleassar (t/p) 17:49, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Kept the original version. The revised versions are useless -- we don't want or need revised versions of the real world -- we want photographs of the world as it really is. For the reasons given above, the engraving on the stone is PD. The text is simple facts and too short for a literary copyright. The symbols are copies of PD works. And, please note that the original DR closure was for the wrong reason -- this is both a sculpture and a graphic work and would have a copyright as both if it were not simply a copy of existing material. . I'm unsure if this is copyright-free, as it's a straight photograph of something created by (presumably) the UN, rather than a work created by Deror avi... It may, therefore, be copyrighted to the person who made the map. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 16:00, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Is there Freedom of Panorma in the UN building? What does the UN Law says about it? Deror avi (talk) 18:20, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that Freedom of Panorama is the issue here - I'm concerned that it's reproducing a (potentially) copyrighted work of art (in this case, the display). Works of the United Nations are generally copyrighted, cf. Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Public_domain#Works_of_the_United_Nations. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 19:09, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

From a technical view, the whole video might be produced by VOA {{PD-USGov-VOA}}, but it seems that they have included material from external sources which might be copyrightable by others. The video shows, among other things, one of the Boston Maraton explosions (11s) and aftermath scenes. See also "(...) However, voanews.com content may also contain text, video, audio, images, graphics, and other copyrighted material that is licensed for use in VOA programming only. This material is not in the public domain and may not be copied, redistributed, sold, or published without the express permission of the copyright owner." = Terms of use (Copyright Statement). That might be the case here. Gunnex (talk) 07:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- I thought that including of the videos is similar thing as citation in work of VOA, because no non-VOA videos are longer than 15 seconds and it's only part of the whole work similar as in some articles on Wikipedia is cited copyrighted material, but the whole article is under CC BY-SA. Is this disabled by copyright laws of the USA or the VOA statement has got priority? --Venca24 (talk) 11:02, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- Citing a text is quite different to "cite" a video or even a photo (which can be also a crop of a video). As I understand you, you are presuming that all photos / videos / etc. can be (by some means) free licensed "cited" in Wikipedia, right? Well, obviously not (or we should close Commons) but maybe you are referring to Fair use which is not allowed in Commons. Btw, this deletion request was raised due to a fair use discussion at enwiki, where User:Masem stated that: (...) It is highly doubtful that VOA had their cameras there at that point to take the footage and we should assume it borrowed from CNN or the like.. Gunnex (talk) 06:42, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

- I have changed the "author" parameter of the file, so that now the correct person is credited. It seems, under Ukrainian copyright law ("Закон України Про авторське право і суміжні права") attribution is sufficient for displaying images of publicly available works. The question is very unclear though, as Wikipedia does not seem to fall nicely into the classifications given by the mentioned law.
- It is also arguable if the image is a "substantial reproduction" (as noted in the removal template) of the sculptural work.--An onlooker (talk) 14:24, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

- Comment This could be analogous to Commons:Deletion requests/File:A chocolate tattoo in a girls hand.jpg which was kept. If we want to look at the issue of "latte art" being copyrightable, I would suggest that instead of a deletion here, we look at it as part of looking at the overall Category:Latte art category. russavia (talk) 12:17, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- It has been suggested that this falls under FOP rules, on the grounds that, for the entirety of the art's existence, it was on public display. -mattbuck (Talk) 14:55, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

- This is the main post office building which was build in 1956 by a group of architects: B. Prijmak, G. Sluckij, V. Ladnyj and others (In Russian: группа Б. Приймака, Г. Слуцкого, В. Ладного). In 1989 a portion of the building was restored after it has collapsed due to the water accumulation. Thank you. Oleg (talk) 15:08, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
