Mareshia Rucker is an American woman who was disturbed that her high school continued to hold one senior party for black students, and a separate one for white students, who took the initiative to start having a single integrated party. Her efforts triggered public attention.

In 2014, when a museum to celebrate the struggle to honour the world-wide struggle for human rights was opened in Winnipeg it included an exhibit featuring Rucker's efforts, that included her special party dress. Rucker met with diplomats at Winnipeg's US consulate.
