File:Youngsaibaba.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello, Sbs108!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

If you have any question about your image deletions, feel free to ask. You cannot upload content that you do not own, and do not have permission to upload. If you are uploading someone else's work (or something that has been published outside the Commons), you need to demonstrate that it has been licensed in accordance with something compatible with our free licensing. TO do this, you can either link to an official statement on an official website stating as much, or you can ask the copyright holder to e-mail our permission response team. If it is not explicitly clear that content is free, we cannot host it. Again, if you have specific questions about your images, or any of our rules, please feel free to ask. Hope this helps. -Andrew c (talk) 23:37, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the woodcut, that was also published on Flickr, see here. Is that your Flickr account? If so, what you need to do is log into your Flickr account, and change the licensing option to one of the free licenses that is compatible with Commons (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). To do this, you just need to navigate to the image description page on Flickr, while you are logged in, and hit the "edit" button next to the (c) "All rights reserved" text in the right hand column. You are welcome to change the licensing of more of your images, if you want to donate them as well (and there is an option to change all the licenses at once). We need you to do this in order to verify that a) you are the copyright holder of these images, and that you are the account holder over at flickr and b) to make sure you intended to release that image under the terms of a free license (meaning 3rd parties may reuse, modify, and possibly commercially use your content). If you are not that Flickr user, then a simple explanation on why your content has been uploaded there would help. Anyway, once we get this straighten out, I'd gladly undelete and verify your image for you. But we need to respect the copyright of others before that verification has been processed. Thanks for understanding (and in all honesty, it doesn't help that you uploaded other copyright violations). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or contact me once you have updated your flickr page license. Thanksl. -Andrew c (talk) 21:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
First of all, the Commons has different rules than Wikipedia. Wikipedia does allow some "fair use"/non-free content under the strict non-free content criteria. The Commons, on the other hand, does not allow any non-free content. Furthermore, on both sites, the free content must meet certain standards (restricting commercial use goes against our mission). You can read up more at COM:L. As for images that are in the public domain, either you have to demonstrate that the copyright holder has released the image into the public domain, or you have to demonstrate that the copyright has expired under the corresponding country's law (COM:L again has more info on that). Purchasing a photo that you don't know the author or publishing date does not transfer the copyright to you (and it may be a bootleg or unauthorized reproduction in the first place). We have fairly strict guidelines regarding free content, and we need affirmative evidence that something is free (not speculation). In regards to Flickr, you may want to check out the diagram at the top of this page which explains what is OK and what is not when it comes to Flickr licensing. Yeah, I know this can be confusing, and we have a lot of rules and stuff, but I'm sure you'll catch the hang of it. I'd be glad to help you further, or if you have general questions and I'm not available, you are welcome to ask them Commons talk:Licensing. Good luck. Feel free to message me again when you get the Flickr license updated. -Andrew c (talk) 00:36, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Indian-guru-sathya-sai-baba.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Indian-guru-sathya-sai-baba.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.
